He has 47 years of teaching experience in both undergraduate and postgraduate levels and also 35 years of experience in the research field. He has guided PhD and M.Phil students for various projects. He participated in international conferences and received a gold medal for submitting an essay on economics. He has authored 8 books and worked as editor for more than 10 books. He has published 72 articles in various economics journals and more than 350 articles in kannada newspapers. He has worked as a member of the state planning board between 2008-2013. He headed the state level committee to analyze the costs incurred for arecanut cultivation commissioned by CAMPCO-ARDF and submitted the report. His report is popularly known as Josi commission report.He has been highly regarded as an experienced and able economist by the fraternity, he now imparts his knowledge via his articles in Prajavani Kannada daily.
